While growing up attending Catholic school, Lola used to sit in class and stare at the school's church as some kids were let out of class to go rehearse in the church choir. Not being able to keep her mind on the subject that the nun was teaching, she would sit and daydream about being in the choir. When she was old enough, she joined the choir at St. Anthony's church and has been singing every since.
One of Lola"s first professional gigs was with a group consisting of notables James Belk a pianist who did an impersonation of Nate King Cole, later on Victor Cager who is the leading male jazz vocalist in the Dallas area joined the group as a sax player.. From there Lola went on to sing in various other Texas bands including "The Demands", "The Revolution", " The Programs" which was a classic rock group, and in the Marsha Moses Production of "From Dixie to Broadway" in which she portrayed Diana Ross of the "Supremes". For two straight years she has been one of the performers who sang the National Anthem at one of Lone Star Park's 89 live horse races.
Singing isn't Lola's only forte. She portrayed a doll that came to life in the production of "REVEAL.....a dream tale with music" written and directed by Akin Babatunde that had it's run at the historic Kalita Humphreys Theater. She was also in the movie "Leap of Faith" where she portrayed a woman being healed by the fake faith healer Jonas Nightingale (Steve Martin). In one of the earlier episodes of "Walker Texas Ranger", Lola was cast as an extra at a crooked politicians fundraiser.
