MY RATING: 0.00

These pieces represent my most recent compositions, recorded for the sole purpose of building my "film music" portfolio in advance of any actual scoring.

I am a self-taught guitarist, aside from some private studies, and a composer who has worked and recorded almost exclusively as a singer-songwriter/guitarist (aka:Woody Russell) for the past 15 years. This recent effort, to undertake a larger creative challenge - one that has always been at the very core of my musicianship and artistic interests - has been some of the most rewarding work I've done in my career.

"WorkPrint Music" is the online representation of this work; the moniker under which these recordings and related business activities reside.

I am actively seeking film-makers who have a need for dramatic material, such as these pieces represent, so that I may develop my actual "scoring" to a high degree. The marriage of film and music is a deep, rich well of artistic content and, when done with a total commitment to that relationship, is a beautiful craft unlike any other musical endeavor. I prefer to compose, like many film composers, with the intent that the best music for film can stand on it's own. Thus, both score and picture benefit from the strongest thematic material and soulful, emotive musical content.

I'd like to think that my music harbors and displays my love of jazz, if only subtely. I'm a jazz devotee, a fan with a deep respect for the musicians past and present; a guitarist and composer with a humble respect for the form itself.

Thanks so much for taking the time to listen and to JazzMatrix for cutting a bold new path for the jazz community

Thanks so much for joining me here at JM, Ted. I deeply appreciate your support and ears. Please leave any feedback you might feel compelled to jot down regarding my work. If you have any film making friends needing musical work, please send them my way.

btw- Toronto, one of my favorite cities... not to mention the other coast and Vancouver, absolutely beautiful country to the north. I grew up in Montana and, subsequently cut my teeth in Seattle as young musician.

I look forward to a deeper listen to your show,

Russ
