Subject: Does Anyone Still Use Reel to Reel?
Content: I'm just curious if any musicians still prefer to record their music on reel to reel tape machines either in lieu of or to compliment their digital recording. I still have a working Tandberg TD20A machine and really like the warm analog sound only a reel can provide. I have recorded my tracks on a DAW to create a music CD and then transfer it to the Tandberg to get that warm sound. If you would like to share some of your thoughts on how you use the reel machine, please post. I have many pre-recordings of Vince Guardi (the "Peanuts" composer) and Chicago and the sound is so "live" on a reel unlike the digital recordings. Do you have any technical ideas on how to record from a DAW to a reel machine? Thanks, Eddie B.
