During her long career in the music biz, Julie Cresswell has worked with world reknown artists almost too numerous to name, as diverse in range from Earl Klugh to Brian Setzer to Stan Getz.

From an early upbringing singing the music of the church, she followed her interests into a variety of American music genres, from folk thru folk rock into blues, bluegrass, country, swing, jazz, bossa nova and bebop. She feels a deep and heartfelt appreciation and love for interpreting the standards of the Great American Songbook. Julie is now also adding new compositions of her own to the repertoire in collaborations with several noted musical composers. Keep your ears tuned!

Hi Julie, I pray you are well. This is a lovely page to visit and listen to all the straight ahead jazz standards and numbers. My visits to the matrix are rare these days, I have so many other demands on my time right now but these should ease off soon, with more time for guitar practice and for the matrix which I enjoy very mucch. Lately I've been listening a lot to John Pizzarelli. I think you would enjoy him. Talk to you soon, keep well, be happy and blessed and keep on singin' those great jazz standards.

Lots of love, ceolte

Nice to hear from a jazzer in the mood, so to say! Well, the weather is a bit April-like right now, with sunny (notice how I get jazzy references in anything...) mornings and evenings, and rain at lunchtime, doubly so... But I try to get walks around the river, well, not around ALL of the river Dalaelven, which would take a lifetime for someone with my body and degree of laziness. It's down to the river (Springsteen...) then along the river for some 2 kilometers, then a bridge at en old power plant, antique, very nice looking, pancake coloured, then along the river on the other side back, then across the river back home. A really nice walk I do every day - weather permitting - otherwise I just play guitar and drink coffee...

I have a new recording on my page now, 'Boplicity try', I did have to record the guitar melody in one take, and the solo (which is a bit dull, mostly because the chords going downwards after half the leadsheet are so difficult for someone as beginner as myself to find a nice solo line to go with) in another take, and they sound like two different guitars, like the solo guy jumps onto stage, plays the solo, then jumps off the stage and goes to some bar or other... But I like having learned the leadsheet, and the tune is so good it makes me shiver, only there's a note, the third note, and the fifth one I think, that should be held a bit longer like Miles did, but well, it is what it is. You might wanna listen to it and judge.

Happy you're on the road at least!

Keep showing 'em!
